Are carbon fiber taillights illegal In California?
I was going to get my taillights smoked (tinted) but that’s illegal in this state of CA, so I’m hoping if I can put carbon fiber instead. I looked Into it and they’re clear the only thing is the back of the tail light which is carbon.

I’m not from CA so don’t take my word for it but after reading what the DMV had to say as long as they’re visible from 1000 ft. they should be ok. Smoked tail lights are hard to see and are hazardous to everyone on the road but as long as the carbon’s are clear they should be fine. I’m not sure about inspection though.
